Purchased k100 16v (1990/49k) this week and already done 300 miles in the rain! Always wanted one. Quick query, I've noticed that sometimes when changing down and throttle rolled-off the alternator light will glow and had cut out first time out but restarted from the button. Any advice as only issue I've found. Thanks.

Very Happy Hi Tonyb !

Very welcome over here; enjoy !
Regarding your question: maybe the TPS (Throttle Position Switch) needs some attention ? Not sure though...

Best regards
Jos

Welcome and enjoy the K! I would love a K down at Devon and Cornwall and there are quite a few members down that way.

Alternator light often glows like that on my LT, lights on and brake light on but never had any charging issue with it.

The cut out is worth looking at and you will get plenty of information and technical assistance here.

Welcome Tonyb, where are you in Devon?  I was born in Plymouth, and spent the first 18 yrs of my life in that fair city.

Hi Tony welcome to our strange corner of www
Having the alternator light glow at low revs is not uncommon and isn't of any concern but if it keeps stalling maybe the idle is a bit low  950-1050rpm is correct or it could be that the throttle bodys need a sync.
Have a look over this site, for a 1st timer it is a good informative read http://www.verrill.com/moto/newkbike.shtml

A self confessed Janner! Want me to send an Ivor Dewdney in a food parcel?

Welcome Tony. Once I get my project in a condition to wheel it off the ramp, you're always welcome to call around for a fettling session.

There was a nice K100RS 16v in red on the ramps in Ocean BMW the other week. Not something you see very often these days.

Apparently it was a recent purchase and the owner had them go through it. They normally don't see Bricks in the workshop (apart from mine for MoT) and it was an interesting experience for the staff to work on one. One of them said how much he enjoyed it compared the the current range.

You can't beat Mother's home-made oggies, but Ivor Dewdney's aren't a bad substitute.  It's a few years since I last had one from their shop in Cornwall Street.
