Im about to pick up a bike that has been sat idle for 2 years.  Any pre-start, pre-buy tips would be helpful.

Welcome to the forum; look around a lot and learn from the solid answers / solutions given. The search-option is a very good tool to find a solution for whatever K-problem might occur.
And if there still are questions ? Just ask; always someone at hand that will point things out for you.

Welcome to the Ks too. Don't be afraid to ask questions, someone will have answers and it helps everyone. Anyway we are only about 60 road miles from you and I for one am passionate about North Wales. Your K is made for those roads.

Do check out what you must do before starting off, on the home page. Don't use tyres more than 3 years old, if its been sat on them all this time they will be lethal, they go hard and funny. I got my K 'needing a rear shock'. It was needing tyres and the difference was very noticeable on wet and poor surfaces.

If you ever feel like availing of some of those cheap one day ferry tickets fromk Holyhead to Dublin we can organised a meet up too......

Thanks Guys!  Had a quick look around the site and there are certainly a lot of extremely helpful K owners out there     Already picked up some good tips and ideas just by looking around.  Seriously looking forward to getting out and enjoying the roads around North Wales.  A weekend in Ireland......im told by many.....is a must.  Think im gonna like this site.....a lot!

Yep if there was a prize for the top site this would win or come very close. Initially it was Bert AKA Crazy Frog but it has now come down to the members and it can be seen just how to do it and more so what not to do.

Now you are talking. I know there are some fabulous roads up in North Wales, Capel Curig, Betys y Coed, Bethesda, Conwy, Bodnant........it goes on.

Now we have a plan afoot here to have a meet up at St Patricks weekend, probably the Saturday 15th March and there will be others. You would be very welcome. Our meeting point is very accessible and both sgmayhew and BlackrocK100 are within 10-15 minutes of the ferry port.

We also seem to have got the Saturday after our August Bank Holiday as a kind of camping weekend. That would be Friday 8th August, we found some nice campsites centrally located. If you prefer a solid roof over your head there are plenty of nice hotels too, not everyone is a fan of camping.

Keep in touch because it seems like a few of us are also keen to go to Wales and the sea crossing is short enough to make it a very worthwhile trip.
