Hey Folks,
I recently obtained my K100RT and it had a fuel leak. Thanks to info on this forum I was able to find a product that fixed the leak. When I took the tank off I noticed two vent lines on the right side of the tank and neither had a hose attached. There was one hose just laying across the frame. I pressurized the tank through the return line to find the leak and had air coming out of the vent line nearest to the front of the bike and absentmindedly place the hose on this one when I put the tank back on. Today I decided to take it down to the station to fuel it up for the first time and see just how much fuel this Ray Randolph tank will hold. Turns out it holds close to seven gallons but that joy was short lived when I noticed fuel being dumped all over the engine.

I made it home (about two miles) covered in gas. I took the bolt out of the tank and lifted it up and there was gas pouring out of the vent line nearest the rider. I pulled the line off of the other vent and placed it on the one pouring fuel and started draining the gas into a gas can.

Can anyone explain what's going on and how to fix it? I believe that the one vent line that I originally had the hose on goes to the top of the tank and is a pressure relief line? (which is why I heard air escaping when I pressurize the tank)

Thanks

I found it! I undid the cap and shined a light down into the tank and the flexhose simply came off the vent inside the tank. Geez...

7 Gallons! That is one big tank. Standard is 5.8 US.
Glad you found the problem although the outcome could have been vastly worse. Shocked

Regards,

Phil
