...well its been happening for a long while
but bit the bullit tody and attempted to fix that fluid leak from the front master cylinder reservoir
the problems appear after doing any sort of adjustment or refill to the reservoir
with the reservoir removed I could see some issues
a build up of gunk under the base and some corrosion down the bore (where the seal fits )
the base of the plastic likewise
I thought the best plan was to remove the pitted paint around that base metal section and to clean up the bore of the reservoir into the master cylinder
I guess the buildup of the old brake fluid was acting as a lever with growth as it became wet/dry again after a slight weep event
I finished off the aluminium plate with some clear coat ...just to seal it up from the environment (but not sure how log this will last if brake fluid gets in there again ) but anyhow you have to try ...eh?
the old seal was slightly distorted ...(from years of sitting in the same place and the additional corrosion growth )
replaced
I sealed the top of the feed tube where it attaches to the base with a smidgin of 1208 drei bond ...to hopefully act as a last seal before the backing plate
just letting the sealant "go off" before replenishing the fluid and bleeding (by back pressure from the callipers up)
lots of metho was used to clean out that gunk
whilst your in there ...clean up the fluid feed holes down into the master cylinder , the forward (closest to the output ) "equalizer tube " is very important for good brake operation
hope this helps someone
as I had thought my problems were solved when I renewed the master cylinder piston and seals a year or so ago .
