Check this diagram. This is where you are supposed to have power when the ignition is turned off. If you have power anywhere else, this is where your problem come from.
As an example, if you get power at the second fuse (from the bottom), you may have a problem with the fuel injector relay. If you get power at the top fuse, you may have a bad load shed relay. These fuses shouldn't be powered when the ignition is off.

Good luck

Bert

Does the starter turns? Can you ear the fuel pump?

First, check if you have ignition and fuel supply.

Hi Les,
If you had a low battery but were able to start the bike then you let it idle for 15 minutes and then you could not re-start it that says to me very flat battery.

As I have said to another member recently when a K is idling it is not charging the battery it is running it down more every second it idles. If you start the bike and then ride off and give the bike a good run for say an hour or so at reasonable highway speed, not idling in traffic, that will recharge the battery. After you switch off then it will re-start. That is a typical sequence for a bike with no other problem other than a battery in a low state of charge.

i know the battery is no good it was brand new 4wks ago. then it went flat. nothing to do with idle speed i use bike and do many miles on it when i have started it either with the battery when ive charged it or after bump start or jump leads.

i have a brand new battery to fit but untill i know the reason why it drained a brand new one in a little less than 4 weeks there.s no point. i have checked and no loss or drainage on battery when ignition off in the process of checking all wiring and fuses. it a problem when bike running.

So you MUST check Brushes of the electrical starter. It's often the source of really "bizarre" electrical problems. If they are too short they cause many problems...
