Hi All,

I'm 50 and live in Romsey, Victoria Australia.

Just picked up a K100RS three days ago. 1984 model and seems to be O.K. (although I thought I'd been ripped off when it smoked like a Cuban on my first side stand start!. Thanks to theses forums my fears have been alleviated by using the centre stand).

No doubt I'll be asking lots of questions as this is the first BMW I've owned. So far, I'm impressed.

Cheers,

Mike

Welcome Mike.

The first bit of help is always free.
After that it will cost you one photo of your bike per bit of advice.
Enjoy the bike.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Here's a picture of the beastie. I'm putting it on a Club Permit, so haven't been able to take it for a good run yet. That should happen in the next week or so.

So where did you find that one? It looks really good, like it was packed away in a box for the last 20 years or more.

Enjoy the fun!!.

Looks pretty clean because the paintwork was redone fairly recently. (and I spent some time cleaning it:) )

Got it from a guy that had bought one new from the factory in 84 and travelled around Europe for 7 months. He then shipped it back here to Australia. He got this one for sentimental value but only rode it home then let it sit around for over a year. I think pressure from the "financial officer" made him offload it.

Yep......guilty. I repainted the heat shield because it was covered with surface rust. It also has a big crease halfway along it so I will probably replace it eventually.

Cheers guys.

Mike

Now, now Blakey and Grover.

I know what you mean. We moved down here from the Glass House Mountains about 12 years ago (work). Still trying to get a transfer back!!! I just had 2 weeks off and out of that about 3 days were any good for riding! I do miss SEQ.Sad

Hi Mike ,good to see another k bike down south , we are going to  have to all hook up soon and organize a regular run . Also plenty of help available if you need it. I'm in Mornington and  do lots of touring around the state with a few other k riders .Keep an eye on the hole below the water and oil pump as they are prone to start leaking after a few km's when the bike has been parked up for a while . cheers AB

When I look out my front window, I'm looking at the Coochin Hills.
