Idea came about of an outing on Saturday 19th October....Stradbally breakfast? Leinster Drive/Altamont Gardens/Lunch by the water?

Any takers? The Nore Valley campsite is open to 31st October so the hardy campers might be having an overnight camp.

The proposed route sounds familiar! Please count me in especially if the weather is similar to last year.

I am looking at camping at Nore Valley. Friday or Saturday night or both......

As for the camping, I recall at Kilkeel some of us do enjoy the creature comforts too. The good thing about this one is each to their own.  I think Bjorn is exploring a line in tents with en suite bathrooms....

I imagine the camping might just be 88KE and 92KK, if it happens at all. Depends on weather anyway.

I can make it on the Saturday, so count me in as well.

I have fond memories of the Saratoga  , its on the beach at Woodstown. Why? Because a friend:afro:  had one of the old timber houses on the beach and we used stay there.

A definite maybe for me. 140 miles before breakfast in October. Nothing to a hardened 'nordie' on a K. 
Don't fancy camping, not in Ireland anyway. Might be talked into it for France next year, though.

I feel pretty much the same but just realised there are mobile homes to rent at Nore Valley as well. Probably not on a daily basis, but as it's fairly off season now, I may chance a phone call on that.
As Olaf pointed out, I have no problem with camping as long as I have my own bed and bathroom

Mobile home is a great idea.....rent one for the weekend......yep!!! Woodstown is only about 40 minutes from there, show them the Viking spirit.... [joking].

The October Classic and Vintage Bike run starts from the Beehive Bar, Connonagh, Leap at 11am on Sunday the 6th October. Bikes approximately 20 years old are preferred but all are welcome. This sounds like its an invitation for K bikes.......For those outside the real Kapital its about an hour west of Cork so a Cork gathering about 9.30 Topaz Kinsale Road roundabout would be appropriate.

Seem to be able to get Sunday off (so far but nothing is certain until Friday night). I can easily alter the registration plate to 91

Hey thanks for that post. You guys just seem to have some great meets too, again the photos tell a great story.

A good life needs good foundations, the bricks and mortar porter are very important. That photo looks suspiciously like our Stradbally Fayre on a good day, bricks lined up outside.

I have a feeling that your Strabally Fayre may look more solid than the mere 100 yr old weatherboard Pub.

On the plus side it was a very convivial  with the nearest house past the phone box in the trees, to be honest not even sure there was a house even that close!

Thanks to TWB the porter was superb, if not for him I would have had the usual lager stuff I'm used to.

We have to admit that the Stradbally Fayre is a much newer structure, in fact most of our bricks are probably older than it. It too is excellent for our breakfast. One could be tempted into an all day affair and copious amounts of claret but then we would struggle home.

Comberjohn travels 140 miles for his breakfast on the day. To make up for it he found us a nice breakfast house in Hillsborough where we get an excellent Ulster Fry.

The important thing is the atmosphere, quite interesting really and I imagine a psychology student would have fun interpreting it all. The over riding factor is that wherever you go K guys are nice guys!!

Count me in for the 19th

I'm OK with 09:30 at Kinsale Road. West Cork roads would be a perfect run-in for the new PR3 horseshoes - would roll more on the side than the middle

Sorry about tomorrow. Turns out I must deliver some documents to Tipperary tomorrow anyway....being a good weather forecast it will be a Long Way to Tipperary. K will do it but have to take off road soon, accident damage needs fixing before 19th.

Requested the 19th off. Whether granted or not - we're in the hand of the gods (and the chief inspector )

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with the K.92. Hope the damage isn't too severe. I will try and make Strad breakfast but will be returning to Falcons early as a lifelong friend living nearby puts on an annual "come dine with me" evening before the rally.

Hope you make it. The K is not too bad and a few bits sorted already. I picked up a fairing panel but as its the same colour as 88KE a swap is in hand as I need to repaint it anyway. I am thinking of going south too as the Saratoga was always an interesting place.......

I'm in for the 19th so, even though I am not going to be too active as working the graveyard shift the previous night

SO once you realise you've been talking to me for nearly 10 minutes without getting a response, that's why.

Also open to going down to Woodstown, sounds interesting. Just checked out on the map, I could even make the whole lot under 300 miles of riding - just enough to test the new steed. -o:

Whatever, it's gonna be a good day. I was doing slalom on the motorway too just to run the tyres in decently . Got the new brake pads, they go in tomorrow.

Bike still running and will stay running ok by all accounts. I need to change the oil/water pump and the gaskets around it to solve the problem. Its due another oil change anyway so will do it after Stradbally.

Hopefully see you Saturday at Dunkettle for 7.30am. Bjorn is in too but not Fintan.

We seem to have the makings of a good turnout but a weather eye needed.

Any thoughts on route or route planning?

Sgmayhew had a rather nice route when we did this one last year, could be worth a repeat. We had brought some lunch [and hot tea] and enjoyed it in the open at Altamont House Gardens. The route took in parts of the Leinster Drive and a few more quite interesting places. Reminded me of the times we went hang gliding up there many moons ago..........

Sorry I'm going to miss it, but I've my brothers wedding on Thursday  , a post-wedding knees-up on Friday night  , and a ballroom dance on Saturday night  . I'm swamped.  

The good news is I'm going up to Dublin the following week to pick up the K1100LT and drive it home.

I used two part epoxy putty to fix a leak beside the fuel pump on my last K.

We might have another man from Antrim for the day!! Interested in a few runs so I mentioned Newry as a possible meeting point.

You wanted company so maybe it will make 3. He has an R so will be company for Bjorn as well....I wonder how is GMcQ doing too.

Yeah, pride of newbies....   30 years on the road with the K.... How about the heritage of 92 years since the first boxer / flat twin (M2B15) 


I start feeling old-fashioned...

Bit like saying the current Bonneville is the same as a T140.
Just took 30 years for the boxer to catch up with the K100. 
You know, water cooling, fuel injection, decent power output, etc.
By the way, that R1200 shaped hole in the hedge outside Maghera village is growing over nicely now. 

Work is getting a small bit dodgy and unfortunately may interfere with my Saturday plans. Will keep posted.
