Hi,
Must say, I like the look and the sound of your Forum. I had a '56 model (1 year younger than me)BMW R50 for 5 or 6 of the 17 years that I lived in Botswana. Sold it to a bloke that did a wonderful restoration - so, so regret not getting around to doing it myself but it would have been difficult to bring it to Australia when we came here in 2007 (so maybe just as well I didn't go through a process that would have made it even more difficult to leave Africa).

Have had the K75C for only a couple of months but have been devouring tech bits from your web-site for about twice that long. Very informative - some wonderful contributions! It's been a huge help already and all I have done at this stage is clean / grease the final drive / drive shaft splines (took the drive shaft out but stopped short of removing the swing arm), plus I have had the tank off and the fuel pump out for screen cleaning/tank flushing. Oh yes - and I have disconnected the Fuel Injection temperature sender unit and checked the resistance cold plus after fan came on (good correlation with figures from the forum sites). Couldn't find any markings on the efi brain box pins - would have liked to check that I haven't got high resistance in any of the line connections by measuring combined resistance of line plus sender from the efi brain plug (bike is a bit thirsty 16km/l at +- 100km/hr lying flat on the tank but was only doing the test over about a 180km run). Sorry about the non Australian consumption units (still some Zimbabwean habits that I haven't managed to dispel completely). And so on with the long list of things to check / play with, after reading plenty of other peoples experiences.

Apologies for the long introduction but wanted to acknowledge the priceless information obtained from the forum. The experience has been one of the best things about getting back into BMW ownership. Many thanks,

Rawdon

Welcome to the forum Rawdon.  I can well understand your leaving Zimbabwe the way things are and Bunbury is a great place to settle.
Have a look through the So you have just bought a BMW K on the portal section and you will get some really good tips on what to do so that trouble doesnt follow you around.

Cheers Rick G and Charlie99. Answer to my dilemma re numbering of FI module plug pins became apparent while browsing this afternoon! Couldn't be more simple than counting from left to right (as long as you have the plug feed entering from the left).

See you guys around.

Welcome Rawdon,

The K75 is a good K too. 88KE here has just added one to his stable as they say.

The fairings make a difference to fuel consumption. I imagine at higher speeds the K75C lacking a full fairing will suffer higher consumption than say K75RT.

I found my K100LT was about the same as yours, but the RT is significantly better, by about 15%. The engines are same and so are the fairings so I have put the difference down to engine condition and tuning as I cannot see any other reason such as low compression/oil burning and I am aware the RT had work done to the injectors etc..

Once you get to enjoy the K you will find it hard to do 100km/hr.........you will be drawn to more speed.
