Quote from Dai dated friday 13th 2016

I did two things on mine: advanced the timing by four degrees (thanks Rick!) and fitted a set of K1100 throttle bodies. SOTP says it's kicking out four, maybe five more BHP than standard i.e. I felt the difference and standard wisdom has it that the rider's backside can't feel less than a four bhp increase. If it's a K100RS then retrofitting the standard K100 bevel drive will also get you a bit more kick (lower gearing).

Is it worth it? Dunno, but it's fun doing it! Another paid up member of the drop a couple of gears and wind her past 6000 revs club Icon_biggrin

Also, screwing the nuts off it in third gear definately helps. Mine does 60-90mph in minus three seconds. Well, it feels that way!

I fully concur with Dai, although my FD is a 33/11 , taller geared, but 1100 tbs and timing tweak done,  I can drop her into 3rd at 70 , and wound her open. and wow.... affraid

the result is quite startling . She really pulls hard, more than I expected..

Three figures comes up very quickly.

Great fun, addictive too.

Don't they all do this anyway? I mean, surely yours doesn't just do it now you've tweaked it a bit?

The K75 final drive will also work, if its a 20 spline shaft, if not you need a shaft as well.

A standard K100 feels like a bit of a slug compared to the mildly-tweaked version. I tried my two back-to-back and Brick2 felt like it was going nowhere compared to LFB. The tweak seems to put much more in the midrange where it's really needed.

Having done the 1100tbs and the timing tweak , there was a definite increase in mid range response.

The other change I did was to adjust the TPS as far retarded as I could to stop the fuel being cut off at lows revs,

which meant that the second trigger should occur a little sooner on the throttle opening than with the standard TPS set up.

I would not normally drop her two gears and wind her open, thats not my usual style of riding, usually relying on roll on power , which is also good.

I did it once before the tweaks and wasnt overly impressed, but now she pulls really well.

So for me, the three tweaks have combined to make difference.

I will still ride like an old fart on a LT, but I now know what lies beneath if ever I want to have some fun.

If I rode an RS , I probably would be tempted to open her up more often.

Bob

I've heard of this tweak, does it work for the K75 engine?  Would like to tweak my K75's, as since riding my 16v K100RS they feel a bit heavier than the K100.

Apparently hitting the starter button is also supposed to give you a bit of a boost. It enriches the mixture, I haven't tried it, I just drop a couple of gears. However I experienced a definite improvement by cleaning all my injectors and getting the correct spray pattern.
Regards Martin.

Then you first must select neutral, or pull the clutch.

The 4° advance works well on any of the bricks. The base idle timing is left at 6° BTDC because if it is advanced any further than that the engines don't pass the pollution tests.
Unfortunately most engines are being made now days that they cant be advanced any further because the trigger mechanism cant be moved.
With the North American model 8V engines if you really want some bottom end torque then advance the inlet cam a tooth (10.5°) however you will miss out a bit in the top end HP department.
Same can be done for the North American and Australian model K1100 16V but not the K100 16V engines.
Or buy a set of 16V cams from Europe which open the inlet 20° earlier and will still give you good top end.
