Hi all, help!! My old girl (84 K100RS), has spat the dummy, went for a ride the other day, all smiles, went to ride yesterday and no start. Ignition fine, lights fine, fuses fine, no fuel pump no start. Any pointers please. So fuel pump isnt working and starter switch wont turn motor over. I did a big strip down when i got the bike and cleaned all contacts switches etc.

Cheers chaps,
Tony

Hi Tony,
Take a look at the drawing Bert did for the starter. Is your bike turning over or is there nothing from the starter?

Hi Tony,
Check the drawing referenced (select Starter on the top line, then click on Starter Load Shed Relay Principle at the top of the Starter drawing) what that shows the flow of current. Standard thing to check is position of Kill Switch BTDT could not get my Gold Wing to start some years ago and as I never use the Kill Switch I failed to spot I had knocked it to the off position, Doh!

If the Kill switch is on then check is the Neutral light on? Then pull in the clutch and check to see if it turns over then, as sometimes the gear indicator plays up or the diode fails and without the neutral light passing current the starter relay will not spin the motor over. Report back on what you find.

K-BIKE

yeh hah! success, pulled clutch in, started..great. Somehow it was in gear..as you said K, gear indicator is starting to bleed and I assumed lack of neutral green was related to problem..hope that makes sense!! Its a sunny day..time for a spin.
Cheers Cobber,
Tony

Over here in NZ there is a rally organised by the NZ BMW Club which I must admit I don't belong to, I suspect Tassie will have something similar. Though if it would attract bike riders from Aus to come over I don't know.

The recent South Park Harley Rider episode caused a stir but is probably a reaction to the attitude of some riders.

The HD Adverts seem to reinforce the image https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2olCKnTVPI
