Just got back from a few weeks on the road, basically hugging the coast from Roscoff to Porto and meandering my way back via Bilbao and San Sebastian.

Some nice roads, beautiful scenery and very fine weather!

Bike rode faultlessly, a loose exhaust hanger and lost indicator screw being the only issues. Used from full on the oil sightglass to just under the dot in ~3000miles which I thought was ok. Got between 40 and 50mpg depending on how and where I was riding with almost but not quite 45mpg being fairly standard. Ate the back tyre smooth and the front to a triangle so it handles pretty horribly now! - it was my first longer jaunt on a k100 and my only criticism would be that I have come away a bit uninspired by the bike, I dont have any really strong feelings towards it either way. I'm kind of used to riding crap or dying bikes and I think it might be just a bit too good! That said, I'm not ready to get rid if it....

Thanks for the photos and opinion On that K. I had to keep counting the bolts on the head and crank cover to remind me it is a 100 so like my 75C is it! My thread in K bike pictures (yeah maybe not the best place!) I said that it took me nearly 2 years to "click" with the old darling.

You look young in that photo  ..  ?  Don't sell her, they're not worth much, right? A few years down the track these bikes are going to be worth a MINT!

Why? Because you can do that Espana/Portugal trip with... err .... CONFIDENCE!

Well done Johnster Thanks for the ride.

Lovely trip. I have been both Cornwall and south west France but car and not bike. I am 10  minutes from a ferry to Roscoff and the drive down to the Spanish border is quicker than the drive to Rosslare and then Pembroke to Penzance. Both are fantastic and the K is definitely made for it. South west France and into Spain would be a great meeting place for a larger K gathering.....Tyres don't last so long because of heat and we have decent corners that simply beg to be used....

Ya know, the K100 may be just the right bike for Spain since it doesn't have all those faring pieces to hold the heat in. Rolling Eyes

Thanks, I really enjoyed the pics.

Nice trip! It's a part of the world I want to ride in.
+1 to what Charlie said about tyre pressure. New hoops will transform that bike.

Thanks guys...

-Yea, new tyres are on the cards. I can really feel how their shape is making things awkward now. I did keep an eye on the tyre pressures and did have to add a bit to the front, but I dont think they've worn out too quickly, they werent new when I left, its a heavy bike and I made use of the roads. 15,000 miles for a rear is a huge distance!
-Think the bottle on the rock was just water. More of a Rum fan; hence the 7th "morning after" pic from my bed.
-I would definitely not have wanted to ride a faired bike down in Portugal. This one was bad enough in traffic. But then I'd have been glad of some protection on the drive back through France through thunderstorms..... swings and roundabouts
-It is a little dull, but I'm going to hang on to it for at least a year and see how I feel. You are right that they are pretty cheap and it'll probably hold as much value as any bike can. Yea i guess I am younger for a K' owner!
-It is a bit grimy, I'm afraid most of my vehicles end up like that. polishing comes fairly low down on the list of jobs unfortunately. but the bike will still be there under all the soot, and to be honest, I kind of prefer ratty but mechanically sound over shiny as I dont mind leaving it parked up .... or dropping it...again.
