I hace a 1991 K75 RT-P that was used by the Victoria BC police from 1991 to 1994. The previous owner bought the bike at auction for his wife. He converted it back to a regular RT with regular cases etc. Now that I am working on the bike myself, it occurred to me that some things are just not right. For example, it appears that the ABS control unit has been retro fitted to the toolbox under the seat (see attached pic). It never occurred to me that this was wrong until I noticed the hacked hole in the side of the toolbox holder.

Can the assembled masses let me know where the ABS control unit should live?

It would normally reside in the tail unit like this:

However, as your bike is a police model it wouldn't have had the standard tail unit. The controller would have been where it is now.

Your problem with trying to move it will be that the loom for the police bikes is a hybrid. Instead of the long section with the multi-connector to the ABS controller that the standard bikes have, yours will probably have the short loom that the ABS equipped K100 16-valve bikes have (the ABS controller is positioned between the battery and the front of the rear mudguard on 16-valve models as they have more room owing to the longer wheelbase). The black box here:

Thanks Mike. The pictures really help. I suspect that the police rear cowl housed the unit and when the PO converted it back to civilian he used the tool box as good spot. THe hole in the tool box for the cable looks like it was cut with a pair of nail clippers. I doubt that nail clippers are an approved method of providing access for cables. Additionally, the large rubber grommet has part of it sliced off to accommodate the tool box lid. I will post pictures later.
