Just bought an '84 k100RS
quite a bit of resto work already done and bog standard apart from a respray in a more modern BMW blue.
I've promised the other half I wont spend all my time and money modding this bike and at least its got a sensible pillion but.....
having seen BKS race bike
17inch wheels (K1100 front K1200 rear) secured and in loft in garage
Pair of bolt on Lockheed 2 pots also sourced (same fitting as Brembos)
Would like to convert to 'naked/basic' K100 spec  so looking for bits there
No plans for engine mods yet (£££££) but never say never eh!
I have an old Laverda and I know how useful the forum is there so hopefully will get up to speed here over the coming weeks.

PS was VERY pleased to find that my insurers only added £10 to my premium for the Laverda to cover both bikes!!cheers

Welcome to the forum. A few members up your way too.

I know its a K bike forum but that doesn't mean we don't look up the occasional skirt...so tell us a little about the Laverda too. Some of us have fond memories of these machines and the sound of a Jota on full bore was or is very unique. Quite a few of us have more than one bike or have come via other bikes until we found our true Kalling.

Monmouth, what nice roads you have there, some nice ones if we Eccentric Irish took a trip across to Wales. Of course you have a nice pleasant run down to Pembroke and Fishguard and immediate access to some nice Irish runs in Wicklow and Wexford and the South East. If this thought ever crosses your mind let us know and we can arrange a meet up at some nice locations. Comberjohn and 88KE have a great handle on where is good to go.

If you are opera fans check out the Wexford Opera Festival in October.....Not my cup of tea much prefer classical to opera.

If you feel like a mad trip hop on the ferry on Friday night and take a trip up to us in Stradbally for breakfast on Saturday morning...9.30am. You would swear it was set to suit the ferry time and its a nice run up from Rosslare ferryport. Bring the Laverda!! Stay over or hop on the ferry 9pm Saturday night and you will be home about 3am. Someone will post the photos to give you the necessary alibi. Or, better still, get the good lady to come for a surprise treat and let her see what she is getting into. Weather forecast looks good enough and might generate enthusiasm for future trips.

92KK K100LT 193214No need to convince me. I've also a 990 KTM Adventure so far the best all around bike i've ever had..pity KTMs new model is a blinged up 150Hp computer on wheels to compete with Ducati/Triumph/BMW etc!

That has  toured round Ireland (twice) plus 2 trail riding weekends near Ineskillen and all over the border country.  Also have a old uni friend 10 minutes from Rosslare harbour...if I phone him as the ferry's coming into port the bacon and eggs is just about ready when I step through the door! Finally...my last name is Kelly ... my father was from Bray.  In short no place finer for honing round roads at an enthusiastic pace, bimbling around, watching REAL road racing ,  and then having serious craic afterwards.    My friends are fed up with me telling them to get there arses over the sea for a holiday!

Will hope to get some "before and after" type story up here as things progress and certainly I'll bear your offer in mind re visiting Ireland, but tied up for next couple of weeks unfortunately.

Re mods on the K I'm being a 'little' careful because the Laverda only  got back on the road last year after a 10 year project and MANY mods... I suspect the wife has a good idea of the cost of it all but bless her,  she doesn't grumble!!  Need to build up some 'brownie pints' first though starting with her "significant2 birthday this week and a trip to N.York in September...should be OK for tail end of year project though!!

The sentence speaks volumes. A great story and definitely qualifies you.

As for the end of year. Be warned. We had a lovely brunch meet, also at Stradbally, on the Saturday [December 29th] after Christmas. Comberjohn fixed a lovely clear blue sky and sun for the day. The day seemed to fit in with everyone's family arrangements and all home for sundown. Weather permitting we might do same again....
