Hi all,
I bought an 85k100rt from a couple of yahoos who had bypassed the starter and installed a 2nd key on the side panel for ignition. Worked great for 2000 miles.
Bike started having issues with the starter not contacting regularly, and then not at all. Pulled and cleaned starter, AOK. Battery good. Relay good. Ignition replaced--4 position autozone generic, exactly what they were using. Trouble is I must be mixing up the connections they had.
What they had: Aux power in the first position (cigarette lighter), ground in off, fuel pump in on position, and starter in the spring loaded position. I hooked up the wires like I thought they had them but now I'm getting both fuel pump and starter simultaneously in the 'on' position, so I can start it but the starter keeps running.
Thanks for advice. I don't know what's being juryrigged here and i don't want to blow myself up!
