I have bought a 2002 K1200 RS and everything has been fine till yesterday when the red warning triangle light came on. It is a constant light and all the other lights go out as they should, checked all the bulbs, as I don't have the riders handbook I can't figure out what it means,

Anybody able to help me?

Usually the constant light on means a blown bulb but as its a K1200 I really cant say for sure as it could mean the neuclear reactor is melting down. I had a hunt round and couldn't find a PDF version.

Rick thanks for that I thought bulbs as well but all bulbs are ok. Waiting for dealer to phone me back to see if they have any idea what it could be. Like yourself can't find the riders handbook anywhere to download or view.

changed the rear bulb brake/tail light, and the blooming thing works now!!!! the other bulb looked like it was working with both filaments but on closer inspection only one filament was working just got brighter when the brakes were applied. Happy now

That's normal.

Not at all unusual at all the bulb may be on it's way out and the lillle test thingy in the bulb monitoring unit can figure it out before you even know it is loosing its intensity. They are smart arsed lillle buggers and sometimes you could just happily consign them to a dumpster.

The ABS on my now ex K100 was telling me there is something wrong and I reset it so it decided to nag me so I reset it and it nagged again so I did a test on it and it said the front wheel speed sensor was crook but I tested it and it was good but I eventually gave in and replaced the sensor and it was happy then. I never found anything wrong with it.

Like the 4-valve Boxers of that era, the bike uses the remaining filament for both functions as a temporary fix until you replace the bulb.

Hi Ali2908, All I know about electrical problems is that they can drive you crazy.  However I have a few friends in S.A who ride a K 1200 and like us K100 riders who should never neglect spline lube, they tell me that the ABS unit on K1200GT are very sensitive to old /dirty Brake Fluid and the service / fluid change on them must not be neglected as the ABS Pump does not come cheap.  Enjoy your K1200, I think they are great bikes.
