Hi. I bought a K100LT a couple of weeks ago and have been "Googling" for the worlds best forum on Bricks. Have I found it?

I have been riding an Enfield 350 for a couple of years, but I have got a new contract in London and so I felt I needed a different style of bike.

The Enfield is brilliant - at what it does! But I don't think I want to risk cruising at 45-55 mph on one of the country's busiest motorways!

So, I have a list of things to do. And need to search around here to find the best way to do things.

I use another forum for the Enfield and the knowledge is brilliant. As I can't buy every one a pint for their help I do a "sort-of" blog; as there's nothing worse than giving advice then not hearing anything in return. I wonder if that is a way to go...

Well, rather than ask straight away I will begin by saying thanks for some advice I found yesterday.

I am riding like a tart so "wooden", er like a new new boy. I felt the bike sqirming away underneath me and it was ruining any confidence that I had! So I pumped the tyres up!!!

So now at 38F and 45R she handles so much better!

And the next one was the throttle wasn't snapping back when let go. I saw a thread about the bar-end weight. I moved it out a bit and the throttle works properly! so simple!!!

So thanks for those!

Welcome to the site Bruce - as you have already discovered - tyre pressures are critical on these machines

Those tyre pressures you mentioned are optimum. On the advice of our ESTEEMED guru (TWB), I've been setting mine at those and it works great!

Welcome to the fond of K-knowledge, Bruce.  Enfield to K-bike?  Now that's a big jump!

Enfield to a K is good. My Dad had a 'real' Royal Enfield 350.....when they were made in England....

But the K you will enjoy, its a few generations improved!. As you have found, this is a very sociable and helpful site....We meet up from time to time, share ideas photos and help of course....

It's true mine was made in India - 35 years ago on the original tooling. To a 1955 design.

Imagine how much better it would be if it were a "real" one!

Unfortunately both my Dad and the Enfield are in pastures new as they say.

I remember the Enfield, he used to live in Dublin and work in Belfast. I only know how it went because it used to take him under 2 hours to do the run. I saw one of them recently, 2005 model I think, its rather nice.

He also had a Velocette before it but I barely remember that, other than the exhaust note which of course is unforgettable.

Seriously, there are some good guys to meet up with, enjoy breakfasts together, learn about the latest tyre pressures ......etc etc.

The new ones are too expensive.

They are nice but you could get a "proper" bike for that money.

Unless they come down in price I can't see them selling many. Maybe that's why Watsonian are no longer the importers?

I saw this Enfield at work some months back, these are now manufactured in India. Did not get to speak with the owner, so can't comment.




I wonder how comfortable the seat is.

Good to have you with us, I know the Indian Enfields and there are a few corners cut in manufacturing some of the bits for them.
