On the RT the cowling (screen) closely contours the cockpit, as a result there is limited room to mount a GPS without interfering with existing switches or gauges.
As conceived, the GPS occupies unused mirror mounting hole on left hand control. The positioning puts the GPS up into a field of view just like a mirror, allowing the rider to simply glance across to see the map without having to move your head.
(above) A ram mount is designed to work off of the 9mm hole on the RT. Here we're using a 4.3" TomTom, one of the smallest units available. Since the GPS is in "bug-splat" territory, a cloth cover is used whenever the unit is not in use.
UPDATE 3/13/14: This year I have switched to the low handlebar option. Now with the handlebars a mere 3.5" above the rim of the faring the GPS unit fits easily within the canopy, so it no longer resides out in bug-splat territory.
