I'm about to do my first spline lub on this K100RS. To refresh my memory and look for tips I scanned utube and one video suggested the reason the rear spline dries out is that the drive shaft is hollow and the grease migrates from the rear spline up the hollow shaft. They further suggested putting a plug in the shaft to stop this happening. They mentioned external grade builders silicon to make the plug.

Has anyone tried this at all? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laDUOYu-ZmA

I have heard of it being done but have not heard of results weather it works or not.
The good spline lube is ROCOL GA50 you can get it from Blackwoods. It isn't cheap but about half the tube will be left for your estate.

Don't forget to support the swing arm when you remove the FD or you'll tear the rubber boot on the gearbox end.

...and get all of the old grease off the splines.

I got the shaft out already, splines where wet and look ok and there's piles of thrown grease up the shaft. I think a plug in there would solve a lot of these spline issues. I'm not sure how to get all that grease out of the shaft so a silicone plug would stick though. Might leave that one for another day.
