Hi, I'm new here.

I'm wondering what the consensus is on where to get oil/filters/gaskets/crush washers/grips/peg rubbers/panadol for a K100 in Melbourne. Do parts shops have bits in stock? What are everyone's thoughts on local shop vs ebay in terms of cost and supporting local businesses?

Thanks.

I buy oil filters from Supercheap a Ryco Z418 is a good one and oil there as well. I use Shell HP5 15W40 and spark plugs (NGK D7EA) from my local auto shop.

All the other stuff I buy from Motobins in UK http://www.motobins.co.uk/ If you buy a few sets at a time they are fairly well priced.
Best place in Oz is from Munich Motorcycles but even that is a heap more than Motobins or Motorworks.

Thanks Rick, exactly what I was after.

I can't find Shell HP5, however. I can find HX5, but not HP5. Is there a HP5 that I can't find?

Yeah it is HX5 I just had a look at the container.  I just go in and grab the stuff in the yellow bottle.
The Z418 filter will need a different socket to get it out. What I have done is to drill a hole in the socket and put a self tapping screw through.

To add to Ricks post, the Ryco Z200 fuel filter. It is larger than standard, but fits in there just fine.

Never get anything from Wollongong, I just tried to get a air valve repalced in rear rim, first shop said you have ot go to BMW, whent reluctantly with the wheel under me arm and the charged $50.00 to replace the valve. Am I out of touch or have I just been touched?

Some of the big Stealers have a $50 as a minimum charge.  They don't want to be interrupted by some low life that will probably never buy a new bike from them so either pay up or piss off.
Was it a bike shop that sent you to BMW.   I can't get passed the scared shitless of a BMW attitude that many bike shops have.
It's the same for a BMW car. You mention that you need spark plugs for your 320i BMW and they go pale and start shaking.  Weak knee bastards

Hello Rick
It was  Kawasaki dealer who was too scared to touch a BMW air valve. I though it was a schrader valve not a BMW valve, typical of Wollongong home of the Illawarra stealers. Better learn to change my own it can't be that hard. I can put one into a refrigeration system so I should be able to get one into a tyre rim. My fault.
