Not sure if this is the right place for this post but here goes.
The list of equipment:-

Garmin 350LM satnav
Scala Rider G9 bluetooth
HTC One X+ phone
Schuberth C3 Pro helmet

I have bought all this kit to connect together so I can get my directions from the Garmin and phone calls and music from the phone. Did some investigating and bought the Scala G9 Rider unit to fit to the helmet and then the problems started, as it turns out you can't connect the phone and the satnav together at the same time! If you have the Garmin connected and then switch the phone on it disconnects the satnav and the other way round. Reading the manual for the Scala after I bought it, it suggests you connect the phone to the Garmin and then to the Scala, this is not possible as this version of Garmin only supports headphones so the phone can't connect! Contacted all the manufacturers and each blame the other.

Scala/Cardo are in the process of releasing a new bluetooth unit which can have two phones connected at the same time which will cure the problem. So looks like I will have to sell the G9 (only 2 months old) and buy the new Q1 or Q3 when they are released.

I also considered the Schuberth SRC unit but it is made by Cardo so has the same issues as the G9, (waiting on a response from them to confirm).

Just thought I would warn you guys in case you are considering these units.

I have a similar set up except I use a

garmin zumo 550
Schuberth C3 pro
Schuberth SRC
HTC One +

The way I connect the kit up on first go was... Connect headset to satnav.. then satnav to phone. This gives me full comms through the satnav.

I can also pair the phone to the headset using the phone method, this allows me to ride without satnav on the bike yet still use the phone.

All I need to do is change the profile on the phone to either allow it to talk to the headset or not. if you have both enabled it will cause a mess!!

With the Zumo there are various bluetooth stacks that can be installed some people have better luck with older versions. I guess the 350LM is the same in that respect.

I have just had a read of June 2013 Ride magazine and it has a review on headsets and connecting to sat nav. It says Fail for the 350LM but it works for the zumo 660.

Twincarb, the 350 only connects to a headset so won't connect properly to the phone.

Have had a look at the Garmin site and that's just nuts!

How can an older product be able to connect in the way that you want it. If I was cynical I would say they want you to buy the 660LM!

Which is possibly the best option or get onto ebay and get a 550 which still isn't perfect because the music isnt A2DP it's quite crap really! But I tend to listen to the radio built into the helmet.

Can you get the 350 to connect to the headset?

The 350 connects fine and the HTC but not together, you can have one but not both at the same time. That is why I will look for the new Q1 or Q3 scala which allows 2 phones to connect at once.

Would the better option be to replace the sat nav? the 660 supports the A2DP which provides the audio quality.... Could be worth having it at the back of your mind when they eventually release the next headset. which is due to ship next month so not long to wait.

Does the 350 give you the ability to control the phone? That to me was one of my requirements. I think the 660 gives full control even of media on the phone the 550 is just phone book and shows who is calling etc which is good for me but I would have liked to have been able to stream audio as well

The 350 has no phone control at all, all it will connect to is a headset, looks like I will have to wait for the new Scala. I see you have a Schuberth C3 Pro do you find it quiet, as mine still is as noisy as my old HTC, do you still wear earplugs?

I wear earplugs everyday, the only time I don't is around town or short stop start trips, with the SRC installed you can listen to the radio clearly with earplugs in. With the volume on the headset controlled buy VOX it's pretty good.

The only downside is remembering to turn the volume right down if I am using the sat nav and not got ear plugs in! The helmet is def quieter than my old full face SHOEI.

I binned the little chin cover not long after I started using it, it just got in the way! The helmet certainly took a good couple of weeks to mould to my head mind.

Hopefully I am getting a earplug mould done at work soon, so I will be able to get moulded ones made. On the HTC you can switch off the phone bluetooth audio and leave the media audio on, will try that tomorrow to see if I can stream the music from the phone and have the 350 still connected.

I tried it earlier but my sat nav wouldn't have any of it Sad

I guess the phone has only one bluetooth connection at a time...

What I did was route phone audio through the sat nav and enable media to the headset. The phone disconnected from the sat nav Sad

I just got the Sean smh10. Pretty sure it does all that you want yours to do.

I have not tried it as I don't have a Bluetooth Satnav but my sena is supposed to be able to connect to two devices.

I am using the galaxy s2 as satnav, phone and music player and it connects every time as soon as I turn the unit on. Also connects to up to three other smh10 units at the same time.

I must try it to see if I can play music while the satnav is on the phone.
You can set priority for the devices also. Phone has priority and will cancel other functions if it rings. GPS gets second option and will cancel music for spoken directions.

Sound is good and clear and the unit is easy to use.

Hi Rossko will look in to that, I need an FM radio on the unit, the only one is the SMH5 FM and not sure if it is available here in the UK, I have emailed the UK office as it is not listed on their website.

Thanks for the info on that unit.

Does your phone have a radio?

Just tried my phone this morning and I can have music playing and the gps working at the same time. Music is muted when the gps girl speaks.

I have a Nuvi 550 I'm mounting on my bike and I plan on installing a wiring harness to power the unit. Any recommendation on were to tie into the existing power on the bike? Thanks.

I have changed it to a Garmin 660 and used the supplied wiring harness directly to the battery. The harness has an inline fuse fitted the only thing is I have to remember to power it off as it is a direct feed.
