My K100RS the way I prefer her to look. She has a full fairing but I took the thing off to do a few things and decided that I like the way she looks in this form. One thing that you may be able to help with is her genealogy. It looks like she is one of the Specials that was imported in Aus, but it would be nice if I can prove this somehow. Any ideas?

I really like the seat and Duck tail Ned. I the tail piece longer than standard? how does it open? is there extra storage in there? (close up pics please)

Hi,

It is a Japanese made fibreglass thing that is one piece and it includes the seat.

As you can see the "boot" space is accessed via a hatch on the top and the whole seat volume is storage space from the seat to the tail light. I expect that the storage volume is probably 3 times the standard.

I got in contact with them just to find that they no longer export. A bit of a unique feature Smile However, I did see a red one in the UK. A pic was posted either on one of the forums 3 or so years ago.

BTW here is a link of the effort that went into discovering the origin of the seat. It was Bert who found the maker. I must say that I never thought that it originated in Japan.

Very interesting indeed. And what a great thread about the maker. I have been looking at this place for quite a while and I have never seen that thread.

certainly a nice change if you're not into the cafe style, but looking for something different to the standard single seat ,
is it difficult to remove the seat if needed?
almost makes you think they were heading down the same road as the K1 tail end, maybe an earlier concept ?
great effort by the forum on research.

The only other possible single seat I've seen is this Corbin thing:

As for removal of my seat... not difficult at all. I can do it in under a minute ... it involves 4 bolts and a plug. The whole seat and the tail pops off as one piece.

@Wigwam: I have no idea when the belly pan was introduced. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable folk remember.

@rossko: Thank you and yes, I will have to make an effort to get out more often. In fact I hope to go for a pub ride tomorrow if the sun makes an appearance Smile
