Hello to everyone,

I have been lurking here for a while.
I am in New Brunswick,Canada and I bought my first bike here.I rode a Jupiter and Planet bikes in Russia, back when I was a teenager.
Last fall I finally decided to get a bike, which I should admit,is a big decision given you can't ride year long as I would do e.g. in Argentina or South US.
So,new to me K100R 1987 was brought home from a guy where is was stored for almost 3 years(even though he told me that he rode it last summer) the registration sticker was expired in 2011.I still don't understand why people tend to fool (me?) ,anyways...it's got 30,003kms on a new odometer,it was replaced @ 16,xxx kms and there's a service record.
Oil sump is overfilled, oil is old but not yet black.Engine struggles to idle cold if I don't have a choke on.Once warm, restarts like charm and idles steady.
A couple of days ago I received a service kit from Motobins, all filters and plugs.Tomorrow I am starting by swapping fuel filter, which I think is the problem that causes a cold start struggle.Bike sat with 1/4 tank of gas,so when I brought it home it was filled with fresh gas and it helped starting at first.
Now tank is empty and it's really clean inside.
Anyway,my fun is about to start!

Great to have you with us many k bikes can struggle to run when cold without the fast idle pulled on because that is what the "choke" is on these bikes. I suspect you have air leaks which are common with the old rubber on these bikes. Have a try and post in the appropriate technical section what the result was.
Regards,
K-BIKE
