Hi,
I live in the Fairland area of Johannesburg. I own a '92 K100 LT which I bought as a bit of a basket case a few months ago. I have had the engine redone fitted a new battery and am at the moment fitting the fairing.
I have still to get the bike registered and road legal.
I also own a Suzuki GSX-R 750K - Slingshot which I am in the process of assembling after a complete rebuild. My son-in-law rides a K1 and his father a K100RS so I was convinced to follow this route.
I am collecting a few parts that did not arrive with the bike such as the ABS box and some of the inner fairing bits but generally its a great bike with indicated 65,000 km but now a rebuilt engine.

As a matter of interest what was wrong with the engine for you to do a rebuild? My K has 90k miles on it and will get me into jail very easily, the K engines are virtually bullet proof and on some German forums considered to be the best bike engine produced by BM.
Cheers from an ex Durbanite. Hi from Johannesburg, South Africa 22936

Send us a bit of sun please.

The previous owner passed away and the people sorting out the estate closed the engine with the big-end and mains finger tight! Oops. Started but had this serious bearing knock, stripped and changed the lot now good for 100,000k's. It was a "project" bike and now I hope to have it my main commuter as the fuel price has gone crazy here. My car is an ML 270 diesel and is economical but I need to be able to get through traffic etc.

Great to have you with us, restoring two bikes you must be a glutton for punishment but well done that is great and good to hear about the other two K's point them towards the group here because a they will probably tell us all something we didn't know or b discover something they didn't know from the really bright people we have on the forum.
Regards,
K-BIKE
