Just of passing interest -- I was in Ikea recently to return some items. In the Returns area, Ikea has set up bins with common hardware, available to the public to select items that might have broken or been lost. I was casually looking through the bins and discovered M8 x 40 studs in one drawer. I grabbed a handful as replacements for my exhaust headers studs. They appear to be zinc plated.
