Started the day on the wrong foot, wasn't sure if I would make it to Wollombi.
called into the local mall, parked as I usually do with bike leaning uphill on a 5 degree gradiant, returned to bike and put some stuff inthe left side pannier, too much pressure when closing, and bike started falling away from me.
luckily I had a seat belt strap around the Gearsak on the back seat, grabbed it quick smart, saved ...Phewww.
then headed into some pea soup.
just as I entered back onto the road from this pic, a small hatchback appeared out of the fog and near took me out.( in the fast lane)
heading down through Mulbring and Brunkerville , I took a turn too early and found myself on Sandy Creek Rd weaving through some nice winding bits and picturesque countryside via Quorrobolong and Ellalong.
sometimes wrong turns do end up being for the better.
Caught up with Mr klompy at Wollombi around 9am, he had just finished brekky , so we both downed a cuppa each and headed off.
Fairly heavy traffic heading towards us , but the road was ours on our side.
Smooth riding most of the way, just have to keep an eye on Klompy, if he sees a cati up ahead, he wags his tail and takes off for the chase. Thought i lost him for a while there.
come on Klompy best not keep Rossco waiting.
Hi Ho the ferry Ho a sailing we will go, hey Klompy , have you got a snorkel....
Rossco was somewhere just on the other side .
pulled up outside Richmond RAAF Base .
a gathering of K's, awaiting security clearance, being a gov't stronghold and all. Rossco snuck in , cheeky bugger.
at Mr K's preparing for the ride home, the Klompy's slept in , or so they told me, Don't Disturb.
One can never have too much luggage, thanks Rossco for your kind offer of city panniers.
Headed on up to Toukley , pulling into the Rockpool Cafe,Norah Head at around 10.30am , the local vintage car club was gathering for it's monthly run .A bonus for me.
Having an avid interest in vintage vehicles , I stopped and chatted with the kind folk for about 2hrs, convincing them to take a few piccies for me at the same time.
John is the chap who owns the Green 1926 Chevrolet truck, my favourite was the blue 1929 International truck.
he also looked after my panniers and luggage whilst I rode 1km down to the headland to capture some pics of the lighthouse. Trusting folk they are.
John was telling me he also rode K100's, and of places that recondition k100 mono shocks in Penrith, and some other nifty K info. He now concentrates on the old truck. A fellow work colleague of mine has just finished restoring his own 1929 Federal truck .
So we shared stories for a while. Almost qualifies as another K gathering, well hell it sure is. He is not a forum member, but none the less, still a K nut.
the memorial is in rememberance of merchant seaman who died during WW2. Norah Head Lighthouse (rough surf today)
Norah Head beachfront, the surf was so tempting, nice pipes for boarders who were out in force.
almost home after a great weekend ride.
Yes Klompy I will put a new camera on my wish list this year. these pics are just bearable.
It was a great ride, thoroughly enjoyed the scenery ,the friendship , and the comfort and reliability of the K.
A gracious thanks to Sean, for the centrestand , now in place.( thanks to the Klompstander)
