The above link is to a site that allows you to track your MPG, all you need to do is fill up your tank and record on the site the miles travelled and fuel used. Would be nice to see more K100's on there as would mean we can see what the MPG of all our bikes gets to do

mine appears to be 40MPG at 80 mph
45MPG at 70 mph

At the moment there is one other K100LT on there not sure if he is a member of the forum mind - chap in New Zealand and 12 K100 series bikes in total....

I'm using Fuelly...

MPG Tracking 141829

MPG Tracking 134025

Fuel economy on the K75 is bad ... I have to look into the cause while the bike is apart this winter.

If you want realtime fuel statistics for your K-bike, install this device.

When my K100RT was licensed for the road, it was giving me 5.7 L/100km, which is almost the same milage as the K75. I'd expect 5.0 or less for the K75, same ballpark as the Moto Guzzi.

6.8 is obscene, twincarb!!

I promise it isn't just the way I ride! She is booked in to be looked at by BMW on Jan 3rd I have asked them to check I have set the timing up right (hall effect sensors) confirm the air flow at idle and balance the throttle bodies, there isn't anything else that I can think of causing the MPG to be so low.

With any luck my next tank of fuel will show a marked improvement

Mines a little below that, I recon 43mpg average which could be due the restrictor.

88 the restrictor is fitted on the air inlet side to the Throttle bodies i take it? Which would cause the bike to run rich..... I am sure that would be able to be tuned out which would help to improve the mpg... when they were put in did they test the CO output? I am guessing that without setting it up for having restrictors in place it would cause problems....

Yep fitted on the intake side, Twincarb, definitely no CO output test or adjustment of the tuning - just bang 'em in and sign the cert for you! I can live with it for another few months and when they are removed I shall get a full tune up.

I guess on a modern bike with a lambada sensor it would automatically adjust the fuel level... Shame they don't think that they need to do some extra work. I wouldn't be surprised if the throttle bodies would be out slightly as well!

At least you don't have long to wait.... As long as you don't miss the power of running rich hehe Wink

I always watch my fuel consumption out of interest and it varies substantially, sometimes as low as 8 miles to a litre on a fast motorway run, which I think is around 8l/100km but generally it would be between 5.6-6.25l/100km touring. I think 5l/100km is achievable but maxing speed at about 50mph/90kmh. My plugs etc are good but tickover is high at about 1200rpm when warm. I found the cause, an obstruction to the throttle returning to idle position, the worm drive clips on the intake.

Added on 7th January: I took bike out yesterday for what was 3 1/2 hours running time. Approximately 160 miles in total. Mileage check gave me 5.68l/100km. Just about 50mpg and what was expected.

Mileage drops very significantly over 60mph.

I was getting around 6 lit/100km but lately its been up around 7. Plus I've had a smelly exhaust and thick sooty tailpipe. Cleaned my injectors last weekend and found one was leaking. Unburnt fuel smell gone, tailpipe looks good. Won't know fuel consumption till next fill-up but I'm expecting it to be back to normal... hopefully.

I use aCar app on my phone for fuel and service records.

I use Spritmonitor myself, lower key but just the same. I've been averaging 51.7MPG which seems to be rather good?
