That'll learn me.
Won't be doing that again.
So I washed the bike and now it won't fire.
I have spark (only checked one plug)
The plug was wet when pulled and the garage smells of fuel
There is fuel returning to the tank. Lifted the lid and had a look while cranking.
Lights all work.
Fuses checked. Damn. Fuses checked and replaced. (Thanks Rick)
Kill switch was a bit dodgy so I removed it, de-oxed it, gave it a twiddle and all good now.
Horn works.
Brake lights work.
Removed coils and cleaned connections.
Checked earth to gearbox and starter.
What have I missed?

Remove all spark plugs, and dry them...preferably with a open flame.


And don't wash the bike Shocked .

reseat the connector going to the computer under the seat ?

actally take it off and dry it out ...then reseat

clean - dry out the high tension leads as they enter the head from the coils cover

If you can pull the ECU apart, that is take the alum can off it, dry it in the sun if it has even the slighest hint of being wet.
Those things get wet very easily. I sold my last ECU to one of the forum members that used a pressure washer.

ECU swapped for known working one.
Leads removed from coil, dried, deoxed and replaced.
Connection under seat checked and cleaned when replacing ecu
Nada.
Everything external is dry.
Checked relay box and all dry.

Does the pump run for a bit when you hit the starter button momentarily?
Did water get into tank?
Is the thing insured?
Have you got a cigarette lighter? Twisted Evil

The pump spins for a few seconds when the starter is pushed.
I hardly even washed it. I don't think water got in the tank. If it did I would suspect it would at least start till the water got into the injectors, but it will not even fire.
I have insurance.
I have matches.
I have a date on the 27th with Halo, RT and Mr K so any insurance matters will have to wait till after then.
I will check spark on the other cylinders as I only did one.

Have a look at some of the sensors and make sure they are plugged in properly. I knocked the temp sensor off one day while working and it wouldnt start till I reconnected it.
If you had the tank off check the connector on the ICU module. I saw one of those wet one day because of a cracked rubber boot.

Rossco, it is Christmas....nearly. If you have been nice the problem will be resolved, but if you have been, you know what, then..............
Don't worry too much, with our crew it will be sorted. I am giving you moral support as I know nothing, apart from once having a problem such as yours, left it in anger and the bloody thing started first up the next day.Wherever the water dried....it worked.

Thanks for the moral support Stan.

I am stumped.
Would a wet air filter cause the problem?
The little side intake tube is not on and water probably got in under the filter, but I made sure I didnt intentionally spray water in there.

Plugs pulled and all cylinders spark.

All the plugs were wet with fuel.
Checked the gaps on the plugs.
I tried to buy a new set of plugs, but of course noone sells them off the shelf.
Fiddled, poked and jiggled about as much as I can and it still wont fire. It does not even sound like it wants to.

hmmm sounds like the fpr or a blockage on the return line back to the tank rossco .

maybe it might pay to turn over the motor sans plugs ...and fuel pump disconnected to breath some air through the old girl (Throttle wide open )

did you hear the injectors clicking whilst trying to start ?

Well Rick almost got it.

The sensor from the water temp thingy was off. Not sure how though the retaining clip is missing off the end.
Deoxed that too. Stuck it back on and I actually got at least 1 cylinder to fire.

Also checked the hall sensor and it is nice and dry.

Now the battery is flat I am leaving it for a few hours and hopefully it will go.

Charlie, the fuel seems to be coming back to the tank ok. Lifted the lid and there is a lot of turbulence in there.

Might try the sans plugs idea before I try to start it later.
I assume I can turn it over ok if I disconnect the connection under the tank?
Inectors are clicking.

I guess it was the temp sensor.

Charlie, I had every intention of following your advice re no plugs, but after it fired for however briefly I just had to go try again.
It took a few minutes but in the end it fired up and now runs like a charm.

If nothing else I now know all the connections are ok.

ok this anit for everyone but sounds like it got flooded a bit old two stroke fix for flooded motors pull the plugs and put a match in a pair of needle nose pliers and poke it in the spark plug hole make a swooooosh and all dry lol

Is that what happened? I didn't think I saw any eyebrows in that photo you posted. Nice look. A bit like Surprised--o: this guy.

did you say that the connector clip was missing ?

i think the clip is the same as the injectors .

you could get one off a ford or something at the wreckers yard ?
