Hello Kphiles

I have rejoined the motorcycle world again in classic style. In my early days I started on Husqvarna 250, then to my first road bike 1975 CB 350, then CB 360, then 550 F blue 1975, then in '81 I bought a '76 Goldwing burgundy. Mid 80s I got an XS Yamaha 650 and sold it when a buddy was injured. I'd sworn off motorcyles even thru my second childhood in my 40s. I love to race sailboats, much slower and probably more dangerous?? If anyone gets up here to Chicago we can go for a sail. So I can't believe that my wife would let me buy this stunning K100rs for my 55th birthday. I always loved the "ladrillo volador" and when I found this great bike for sale with 13,000 miles on it, I just nagged the wife until she caved in:heart:. She (the K) ran great, and she had some small issues with a broken mirror, small leak at the forward oil pan, drying splines, one small leak on the left front fork, etc but wow. I am like a twenty year old.

I am so grateful for this forum and the great welcoming folks here. I am honored to be here and looking forward to contributing. thankyou.

What did you say? You look like a kid in a candy store.
We believe you. A lot of us experienced the same joy of buying a K bike after years of abstinence.

Welcome to the forum.

Warmest Greetings from Idaho, Jaime!
Your story sounds so much like mine. I bought a 1985 K100RS last year that needed a new home, love and understanding. It's been an education getting to know her and now I'm really looking forward to some serious touring miles together. The snow is falling as I write, so she's on the trickle charger right now, but come spring....

I forgot to say how delighted I was to see your Crazy Kat pix, Jaime. I've loved those cartoons from the very earliest years of my (now long) life. George Herriman was way ahead of his time. Very Happy

Ignatz and Krazy Kat were a famous print and later animated cartoon, where Ignatz the mouse in an attempt to get rid of the Krazy Kat would throw a brick at her head. When the brick made contact however She fell madly in love with Ignatz. I loved it as a child, the cartoon ended in 60s when some children threw bricks expecting love in return. It is worth looking up online. When I learned that my Krs was refered to as a "Flying Brick", Krazy Kat popped into my head. see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2WKDp51sSQ

Some of you may remember this.

Wow UJ - sounds like you got a good low mileage machine. I've been close to your neighborhood a few times (River Forest) and in winter too. I can't imagine you'll be cruising up and down the lake shore at this time of year but I bet you're looking forward to spring! Enjoy and be safe!

Yes I was fortunate to find it, at the price I paid. But it is 27 years old so there are some details that need to be attended to. I do appreciate that you have been to my county. I am of Irish (and German)Decent and have always wanted to visit. Never been on the other side of the pond though. Someday...
