hey,

picked this up locally a couple of weeks ago along with a wrecked 90 r100gspd. the seller apparently bought the contents of the deceased owners garage to get a mustang he wanted. an all or nothing deal.

i guess the biggest distraction is its still on the certificate of origin from 1985. the original owner was a car dealer in st louis who ran all his vehicles on dealer plates, never transfered the mso into his name and obtained a title. if the bike passes muster i'll start the process to get one.

pretty cool bike. i'm sure not everones cup of tea, but i was instantly smitten with the pichler fairing and body kit. all the bodywork is in amazingly good shape, just some small chips and rub marks.

the bike starts, runs, rides, shifts, etc. motor sounds great. it should though with 6900 miles on it.

i'm admittedly no mechanic so it will be dropped off at one of two places here in st louis to get it up to snuff. fluids change, brakes overhauled, and a new set of bt45's which i already have.

then put some miles on this 'bahn burner. figure it will be a good cold weather rider. bonus- it came with a set of new in the plastic set of bmw hard bags.

I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the fairing, but in saying that I must also say OMG.
That is an amazing find.
Incredible to think it still runs as I imagine it would not have been started for a while.

Read the You just bought a BMW now what page and have fun with it.

I hope your guys know what they are doing as I am pretty sure most of those parts would be irreplaceable in their current condition

That's an amazing barn find. The Pichler is an outstanding fairing, looks being subjective and all. If you ever wish to rid yourself of it....what a flashback.

well both places i've used over the years with my airheads. one is the local bmw dealership staffed with a tech thats an airhead/k bike fanatic. the other is a small independent bmw shop. i've had good luck with both. get the job done and are careful with my bikes.

don't jinx me.

You should be right. That part of the country has a wealth of BMW experience and tradition. Doesn't the big BMW club (BMWMOA), which originated in Chicago, now have its headquarters in Missouri?

Welcome to the forum Dointheton that sure is a good find. Now all you gotta do is hint at the price you paid to make us all insanely jealous as against real jealous.
I like the way provision has been made to fit the OEM paniers but that standard square muffler just doesn't look right with such nice lines.

I just knew I shouldn't have asked. That is truely a bargain for either let alone both and the R100 doesn't look to be badly damaged.
You really have done well.

Welcome aboard dointheton - it seems that you have found a real peach there - not to everyone's taste but nonetheless it looks to be in pretty good order. Oh how I wish I didn't live in the cold/wet/winter salted roads of the UK sometimes. Such conditions are hard on any bike - even our solidly built Bavarian "K" bikes - enjoy your time here Wink
