As the snow flakes will soon start to fly, today was the day to bring the chair in my basement. First, I had to detach it from the bike and it was quite a challenge. I had to disconnect the brake (on the sidecar), and remove the auxiliary gas tanks from the trunk. As the bike cannot be ridden solo, all connections were solid with no plugs or fittings.
The bike not having a side or center stand, I had to jack it on the mototrcycle lift. It took me 3 hours to be at the point to be able to separate the chair.
It was certainly the first time that it`s done in the last 25 years, the use of a `persuader` (understand a big hammer) was needed.
Here is where I was after 3 full hours.
Next, I had 3 friends coming to give me a hand.
We took the bike into the basement without much problems. I start to have experience with the exercise (I have a 16 ft. ramp).
When it came to bring the chair in, we had to remove the door. The 4 of us were struggling because it weights over 250lb and it`s not easy to carry it sideways.
Here is the only entrance for the rig and the bike:
Now, I know where I will spend my winter...
By the way, my wife has not seen the Recroom yet....
The bike is now ready for a strip down and hopefully I won`t have too many surprises.
Tomorrow, if the weather is still as good as today (Only 6⁰) I will go for a ride with the solo RT.
