When I was replacing the fuel lines, I noticed the cutoff end of a wire near between the fuel pressure regulator (labelled A in the picture) and the breather tube (labelled B in the picture). I asked at the local dealer and the response was "some kind of sensor". Since they were not sure what it was, they couldn't tell me what it did, or if I needed it.

Can you help me identify the circled item (keep in mind there was a cable there originally but it has been cut off).

Which might explain why the choke light does not come on even though the bulb was replaced during the LED bulb upgrade.

Then go find a new local dealer, yours obviously has no idea.

Check this

This is the same switch as the clutch switch, or the front or back brake switch.

Easy to find.

Usually, they are just sticky and a good cleanup of the plunger will solve the problem.
Yours may not have been adjusted correctly and this could be the only problem.

Into a a two prong black connector on the left side of the main wiring harness under the tank, near the fan.  How do I know?  Because my fan turned on once and sliced right through my switch wire (which happened to be dangling too close), causing my choke light to malfunction.

Obviously the bike will run without this as I have not had a visible choke light since I have owned the bike (17years). It also appears that the wire was deliberately cut. I guess I will think about replacing it down the road sometime. Unless there is a compelling reason to do so sooner!
