You should be able to put finger and thumb one each side and lift it off. Sometimes they are a bit stubborne but usually come off. They are just a push on fit.

I remember reading a method using 2 small flat screwdrivers gently wedged under the round end at the spindle and lifting both at the same time. I did that on my speedo needle and worked.( hardly bent it at all.)
Good luck.

Another metod is to use two teaspoons, one on each side of the spindle.

Since corrosion and lcd is mentioned in the start, I assume that you want to remove the GPI PCB.

If so, it`s not needed to dismantle the needle and the dial face.

1. Remove the center T-shaped part with the conductive film.
Careful so you don`t bend the contact pins.
2. Loosen the two small recessed screws at the rearside of the tacho.
3. Remove the tacho from the housing, then remove the two small screws.
4. These two screws secures a white plastic part at the GPI PCB, move this part a bit to the side.....the you can slide the GPI PCB out at the top of the tacho.

Seems like it`s a problem to upload pictures this day......

I have, in the past, removed the face screws and pulled the needle off with the face. This method gives an even pull around the needle base.

Paul.

torn down the Motometer. Even taking the face plate off; really cleaned the contacts under the lcd and those going to the tach circuit board. Walla! All five numbers display bright and clear. Thanks again for all the input. Webster in cloudy but not raining Oregon. Motometer corrosion problem 723598

Give every contact in the cluster a treatment with DeoxIT and then also treat with DeoxIT Shield if the cluster has a tendency to fog up at any time.
