I decided to replace the head bearings etc.

Its gone wrong and a lot of fixings stuck/corroded/wont open. Stanchions have been loosened but wont come out and wont go back. Seems I have access to a K1 front end...question? Will it fit?

This would include stanchions, triple tree, top yoke and everything else. I dont mind this as the stanchions are badly flaked at the top and need to be rechromed anyway.

I would keep the mudguard/brace, wheel/axle/brakes etc.

I have looked on motorworks and will ring them in morning to see what they have.

You will need a 20mm master cylinder and then the throttle and cable.

To clarify a bit, the forks will fit if you swap them as an assembly, as I've done, but if it's an 8V K100 then you need a 17" three spoke wheel & corresponding tyre, 305 mm floating brake discs, spacers & axle, four piston calipers, a 20mm master cylinder/throttle assembly & cable (which you'll then have to modify the TB end of), the mudguard brace and two piece mudguard, hydraulic hoses, a different dashpad to accept the top triple clamp key arrangement, and what else have I forgotten to mention? The stuff above that Inge and Rick have mentioned. But yeah, it'll fit.

Two Wheels Better,

Thank you for that....that was what I was afraid of....the entire needs to be swapped over.

I also discovered that I will have problems if I ever try to remove the exhaust, the manifold bolts are so rusted they wont come off and will need to be drilled out. This kind of affects my plan to replace timing chain etc over the winter although I know thats not a head off job. I didnt pay a lot for the bike and to be honest always knew it would bring some bills. At close to 100,000 miles I dont see need to be spending big money though. The front end job, timing chain job and new tyres will start getting close to cost of a replacement bike!!!

UPDATE: Forks out without damage, use of a hydraulic press sorted it, taken out as complete assembly. Back on road for weekend now expected. Going to give thought to replacement bike another day.

No matter how many other bikes tempt me and seduce me with their whily charms and supple suspension, excellent brakes, and pleasant ergos, I coudn't sell my K. If it doesn't go one day, and I can't work out why, even after reading every detail of what people on the forum write in assistance, I'll mothball it, give it a loving rubdown and retire it to a prime place in the front room, and stare at it while the fireplace flickers randomly, remembering fondly my near and far travels on the old girl. That's better and more interesting than what's on the box.

(disclaimer, truth be told, I don't and won't own a TV)
