Found these gloves at outdoor outfitter. They are kayaker gloves but would be perfect for those riding in the wet and cold climes. Neoprene rubber palms and finger pads, pre-formed curl to easier grip a paddle, or in our case,handlebars. Goretex nylon back and webbing. Terry cloth on knuckles for wiping goggles or nose....I thought they were very comfortable and didn't seem to overheat. I'm sure there are similar gloves in all countries.

Hmmmmm , dunno kfilipow , for me I think I'd rather have leather / ballistic textile on the palms , don't know how long neoprene would last in a slide .

Have to agree. I don't think kayaking gloves would be designed to withstand any prolonged, heavy scraping motion similar to what would be encountered when you are sliding down the road minus your bike.

As a keen canoeist and scuba diver in times past I can tell you that the neoprene won't last a nanosecond in contact with rough ground, But I have thought about doing it the other way and putting muffs on the handlebars. A bit of terry towelling on the fingers is handy but a bit of suede nubuck of chamois on the side of the idex finger is best for wiping the visor in rain I find.

Canoe ones wiill have holes at both both ends to let the paddle shaft pass through but motor bike or quad ones will be closed at the outer end of the grip. Lots of city couriers use them here and farmers use them on the quads in winter so they will be readily available online. ....My twopence worth!

yes, you would be correct about the pavement. May you never end up sliding on the pavement as described.
