Ok here is one for the gurus. Have had the t/bodies off and the base adaptors during tidy up. All back together and going, however after washing the bike i started it and was blowing the water off the top of the motor with air. Some went towards base of t/b and engine stuttered. I thought might have been lectric cos it went away. Took it for first test ride, bogs down at 3000ish rpm but i was taking it easy.
At first i thought maybe leaning out but got good fuel pressure(i can see guage while riding). This arvo i sprayed some aero start around t/b clamps and base at head and idle dies. Particularly at tbe base to head area. This does not make sense as it should rise unless its a bit rich maybe not. Anyway it still appears to me that there is a leak there.
What are your thoughts. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sure sounds like a leak. Probably a silly question but did you put new O rings in the bases.

As far as I am aware there are no O rings between the engine and the base plate that then connects to the throttle bodies?

But it would sound like one or more of the base plate's aren't sitting correctly... if i remember correctly they only have a proper fit one way round

Theres o rings in the bases!!!!! I looked at them and it didnt look like they were o rings. More like sealing grooves.
If there is o rings do you know what size they are Rick?
Can i get away with some sealant? I used loctite 518 sealant when i did them but maybe its not suitable. Might be better with dow corning blue sealant.

I don't know what size but I am fairly sure my K100 had O rings unless I am mixing it up with the K11.
Just been looking at my parts cattledog and it says no it has not got any so I better belive that or else.
I suppose you had better use some petrol proof Gorilla snot on them. 3 Bond

Ok thanks Rick the parts dogologue wouldnt lie.
I have pulled them off now and the loctite stuff didnt look good. Think i will go 3bond or equivalent. You can get it apart you know with the fuel rail and tank still on. Good thing i have monkey fingers. Razz
Might be some choice words going back together.

Only the 16V models have o-rings under the intake boots. I used a smear of
Drei-Bond (same as Three Bond, Fuji Bond, Yama Bond, etc) BMW part number
07 58 9 062 376.
