I have just after some time in research found a supplier of odometer gears who will happily sell gears either in sets or singly. He has a website at http://www.repairsonly.com.au/odometer%20gears.html His name is Richard Smithers and he was very helpful and has sent me a 12 tooth gear by todays mail. He is on the phone 02 95244131 and will repair your speedo or supply the appropriate part. He needs a tooth count for gear sets but the primary gears are all 12 tooth.
This info may be known here but I did not find it with the site search.
Regards Dennis.

Just a quick update. I ordered the gear at about noon yesterday and received it before lunch today to my door by courier. Outstanding service. All I have to do now is fit it.
Regards Dennis.
Further update. I pulled the speedo apart and found that the gears were all soft and buggered. Rang Richard and gave him the tooth count on the gearset and he is ordering the ones I need. They are $25.00 per gear ($28.00 from US) I tried Otto in Brisbane and was told that the boss would not let them sell the gears and quoted $165.00 to repair the odometer which taking into account the price of the gears and labour is probably fair enough. I think that anyone who has a problem should budget for the set of gears as mine were all soft and clogged with the original lube. Also if dealing with Richard ask him about getting the sleeve off the shaft that the 12th gear goes on. I got it off the shaft using his method without problems. I have seen it advised to leave it on but I dont think that is a good idea.
Incidentally the tooth count on my odometer is Drive gear 12th then there are 3 double gears 22th and 23th on one gear (strange) 34th and 40th on another and 16th and 44th on yet another. The remaining gear that drives into the actual number wheels apparently does not give problems.(different material I suspect)
I will update this thread when I get the rest of the gears,
Dennis.

Lionel Otto's in Brissy is good for it too. Over the phone you get the feeling they're far too busy to bother, but when you rock up with samples in hand they've got the goods, and are happy to sell 'em to you. I paid less than AU$80 for the complete set, parts alone, no labour, as I did it myself. At the time I swallowed hard at the price and felt the rough end of the proverbial pineapple, but the odo and speedo spin, two years hence, as though they were eager and meant for the open road. Result: What one would reasonably expect; a functioning klick counter.

RT I am not sure I understand the question. Did you order something from Richard and not receive it or would he not deal with you? I rang him initially to get the primary odometer gear and it was in stock and I received it the next day, payment by credit card. I then found that I needed the set of 3 gears that go with the 12th primary as recounted in my last post and as he did not have all of them he has ordered them in and will contact me when they arrive.Unlike Otto's Richard was very helpful and pleasant to deal with and I could not rock in to Otto's from my home in the Central West of NSW with samples to get what I needed.
Regards Dennis.

Hi mate
Richard was very helpful but told me he could not provide the smallest gear (I presume that is the primary gear) I could have the other 3 (this was early last year) but he said the smallest was unavailable.
My problem now is I can't find the post with the correct number of teeth and sizes so thought you may have
done that when ordering them.
Looks like I might have to head out your way for a squizz as well, as soon as it gets warmer.
Thanks
RT

Assuming that your speedo is the same as mine the gears are as shown in my post above . i.e. 22 and 23 (double gear) 34 and 40(double gear) 16 and 44 (double gear) and 12 tooth Primary gear (single drive motor gear) Other than that you will need to take the speedo out and count them. Not that easy in my declining years and declining eye sight.
Regards Dennis.

Thanks Dennis that's exactly what I wanted. I have had the instrument cluster open three times without losing anything, maybe this time.
Let us know how you work out and if you have any troubles
Cheers

Just a final update to this thread. I contacted Richard yesterday and he had the gears in hand. I gave him the B/C details and the package turned up by Courier today at about 1pm. I pulled the speedo out and replaced the buggered gears and reassemled it. Incidentally the gears can be replaced without taking the speedo needle and face, there is sufficient room to get the endplate that covers the gears with the top intact. Put it all together and took it out on the road and all is well. Odometer and trip meter working as designed. It took less than an hour from start to finish.
I am very pleased with Richards service and his attitude was very pleasant and helpful. See posts above for tooth numbers on the gearset as used on my 1985 K75c vin GBM07405LX31854087
Regards Dennis.

Good news Dennis, I'm glad to hear it was easy. My gears arrived yesterday so it'll be my turn.
I second the service from Richard, although a bit expensive they were here in 2 days.
