So I got a bmw/vario tank bag for my k100 rs. What I need to know is does that front hook just go to the front of the tank or am I missing a part that it's supposed to hook to. It just doesn't seem to want to fit up there the way I think it should?

The Multivario grabs the front edge of the tank, as you've imagined. Was it part number 71 60 7 666 496 or 72 60 2 319 240, for Ks?

I don't see a part number on it but number 3 from the your handy drawing has K100 RS RT ab Sept 1985 and under that K75 C, S

This tankbag base should be the version for your bike, though I see you have an earlier model from the early-style seat cowl and footpeg brackets. Though I don't recall a different part for pre 9/85 models.

May I make a suggestion that helps us to answer any questions you might have about your bike in particular? In your profile section under signature, list your bike's VIN and year/model info. Ta.

I found the rubber bit that underlies the tank interferes with fastening that hook on my 1985 K100RS. It's a wrestling match whenever I put it on. Coarse language sometimes helps.... Evil or Very Mad

I just unbent the hook a little bit maybe 15 degrees and it slipped right in there. Now I have more carrying capacity for getting it ready to tour. I ended up with a great deal on the tank bag both integral side cases with liner bags a top case for and a nice cover for$225 US. The last thing I need is the stock rear rack to mount the top case on and a set of bar risers to get those RS bars up and back a bit.
