Updated : What’s a k75s tank worth? 73d1ab10Hey Guys,

I have a spare K75S tank here with no internals but in great condition no dents other than some worn out paint. 

Was going to keep it spare but mine is in great condition.
If I was to sell it what is the going rate?

I would think a couple hundred for a bare tank.   I usually check eBay for a price range and set my price on how fast I want to get the part out of the garage.

It would be worth more if it had a float-type fuel level sender inside it rather than the thermistor-type that seems difficult to repair and is scarce in the market. What's the underside look like?

Has the year been stated?
Does it have the original 1983-1985 single bolt hole for securing at the back?
Does the gas cap assembly come with the tank?

Hey guys it’s off a 1990 K75S that uses the float type fuel sender

AFAIK the K75 ever only had the later type of mounting.

The fuel cap is special. I think it's from an earlier model k100. It's worth more if you have the key. It's installed backward, so you want to check the lower points of the tank to see if it leaks, and check for rust inside.

Correct, also never had the push button cap. Its only on 83 K100

So just to clarify, the fuel lid on that tank is off my 85 model and the period correct 90 model is currently here sitting in a box.
Neither of the 2 caps lock from what I can gather also.

I do have the key for the tank and correct fuel lid but it’s the only key so then wouldn’t have a key for the matching ignition barrel UNLESS they run different keys? Then I don’t have a key haha.

They should be lockable, that's what the keys are for. It's only a couple of dollars to cut a copy of the key.

Sorry I’m saying that the actual locking mechanism isn’t working, the key turns into lock position but doesn’t physically lock

Update , fitted the correct fuel lid and it locks and works perfectly! Will be posting this up on eBay for auction with matching ignition barrel for any one interested!
