Getty ready to rebuild my 1985 RT and get rid of the fairing - I like the set up below - anyone know what bike it comes from, or if it is aftermarket? Thanks.

That is an OEM for a K75c and the original K100 1983-4

That helps - thanks a lot. Not sure if the mounting hardware will align with my 1985, but trying to move in that direction. Thanks again.

Hi Paul,
Here is the OEM set up. Not sure about parts availability these days and wouldn't be cheap if you used new parts.

The backing plate bolts onto lugs on the upper and lower triple clamps. No headlight bucket as such.
There is also a different set up for the later K100 Basic /2 model which I like the look of. (Couldn't find a parts diagram)

You could also have a look at the work of Paul from the Netherlands who posts on this forum.

I've been thinking what could be adapted from a Japanese standard / naked bike, but then you would have to decide how to deal with the largish K instruments.
Plenty to think about.
Cheers,

Dee Why made a very good comment about unit from a Japanese naked bike. He also gave a post for one which looks great.

I suspect a unit from an early Honda 750 or 500 four, they were a sealed beam complete unit with the chrome 'bucket' to the rear and H4 bulb, same as the K. When I had one I had it upgraded from the standard bulb to 130/110 watt bulb and it was very good. The K bike must have a relay installed to allow this but a headlight relay is already recommended anyway [and by now fitted to most Ks], just watch the capacity of the live wiring from battery to relay to bulb.

The chrome bucket can be painted black or whatever colour you would like. Because you would be painting it you will not be looking for one with good chrome. The sealed beam headlight unit was a standard size that would interchange with a lot of cars too, readily available.

These units had the two chrome sleeves which covered the fork stanchions and pivoted for adjustment, if you dont want to use the same fixing arrangement as on the link. It would be a very neat fit.

This is the part number for Honda, right hand is 51602-300-672Z . The Z being colour. However in hindsight surely the older R series headlight would fit. either way plenty of choice.

Hasnt sexy advertising come a long way. For the more mature owners......fully dressed woman astride a naked bike. As it should be.
