one of my friends reported snow in guyra and tenterfield today

dont think i have heard of it happening for a few years

whats the go rick ..? anything in your neck of the woods ?

if so might take a day off for an explore up your way ....not that i like the cold ....but its a rare event for us queenslanders and things are kinda slow at work .

There was snow at Tenterfield yesterday but it all melted soon as it hit the ground. Theres none left now. We didnt get any in Stanthorpe but was some sleet at Mt Tully and Eukey which are much higher than Amiens.

Same in Guyra as Stanthorpe. Probably snowed quite heavily 3 or 4 times but melted straight away. A Nerd I met once told me Guyra has an average of 5.2 snow days per year. Hasn't really snowed properly for about 3 years here though. I think this year will be different.

oh ! nowhere in particular .....but a few years ago i was in wellington (nz ) and it was soo frigging cold ...i travelled up to the rimutaka pass and stood in the .....ice falling out of the sky ...not much snow in the ground as it melted as it hit my head ...but a few hundred meters above me was snow all around on the top of the hills .

for me its amazing

and i want to experience it again ...lets see what happens ..huh ?

Ah ok! Well we can usually predict when its likely to snow...though no guarantees. If its going to snow anywhere around it will do so in Guyra. Its over for now, but will let you know next time the cold front is coming and the westerly is blowing. Always a bed here and a glass of Kräuterschnaps!

I went to uni in Springfield, Massachusetts over 33 years ago. It snowed regularly there and all I had for transport besides the city buses was my R75. Many a cold, grey day I had to get to classes and then work and home again late at night, in snow 6" deep and piling up, feet down, snowplowing, 10 mph tops, one false move and you're down! It's exciting but not a lot of fun. I got pretty good at it though I don't recommend it.

The A10s were a much underrated engine in my opinion, Paul. Mate of mine has had one since 1984. Still going strong. Swingarm model though.

purdy cool for us folks up here..... was way cooler when i started off to work at 5.00 am ...just over the freezing point where i live .(nearish ipswitch area)...seems those hollows concentrate the cool stuff around us ...

weather temps for today in my area ...i rode the bike into work ... after a reassembly start at 4.00am



but hey, i dont mind standing in subzero temps ...as long as there is somewhere warm to get to .....but i dont appreciate wet feet at the same time .....i think "we've been there" at some stage ....all of us

just work stuff seani ....i work with networked, ip based, video intercoms (smart electrickery ) ((that really isnt that smart at all )) but everybody wants a touch screen these days ...with every app available on demand ... just have to remind some of these folks that when they turn the volume up (cause they want to hear an incomming call from the next room, whilst there watching state of origin) that it will be really loud , the next time a call comes through ( read change of shift and the next guy gets an earfull ....gigle ) "um..... why is it so distorted ".... good greif

I asked about Wallsend as my father lived there in his later years. The Novocastrians call it Worldsend. I have a mate in Ipswich and last time I stayed there in winter it was cold! Open plan house and no proper fireplace etc.
I'll leave the high tech electronics to you! My 'smart phone' is clearly smarter than me and is beyond my capabilities..why can't they just make phonecalls? ( The old codger's lament).
Anyway....cold and miserable here but not cold enough for snow.
