But the one that I find the most impressive is the snaefell. It was hand built by a French biker.10,000 hours were needed to realize this unique piece of art based on a 1976 1000cc Laverda. The ultimate sidecar design. 212902

That is one great looking outfit - I was lucky enough to own a brand new Laverda Jota back in 1982 but I have to confess that the thought of adding a sidecar to one of the greatest ever solo road/racing motorcycles is almost unthinkable, even now Rolling Eyes

Hard to tell from the photo, but they look almost like kneelers? Not sure how practical that would be for touring.... Smile

Here's one for you, Krambo....,. Laughing

Yep, early 80's I think. You'd have to ask Phil Aynsely, the photographer though. I seem to recall he said it was just a random shot.

There's a yellow one turns up to the Dragon Rally most years. Unfortunately the owner is... slightly lacking between the ears. Haven't seen him for a while now - he does have this tendancy to make us veer 180 degrees to his current trajectory. And walk away. Rapidly.

Edit: just remembered it's actually a yellow Merlin.

To me that looks like a motorcycle and sidecar trying to be a car, hardly the ultimate in design.
To me, a sidecar combination must produce the feeling of riding a bike, not genuflecting and praying your swinger will stay onboard.
Eat miles, take your dogs, eat more miles, carry tools for the others who might not have room on their solo bikes.

I guess he was qouting Hans Fallada's book published in 1947:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Every_Man_Dies_Alone
based on the true story of working-class husband and wife Otto and Elise Hampel who, acting alone, became part of the German Resistance.

and now, back to our beloved Flying Bricks

Thank you for the diversion. That diverted me elsewhere and I learned a lot about how the German resistance went to the very top of the Nazi ladder. Stunning.
