Hey all,

I bought a house with no garage and a parking pad out front, four years ago, then bought a 92' K100 RS last year. Each day that it's damp or rains I have this growing anxiety that the rubber hoses/seals will crack, the frame will rust, or the tank will suddenly develop a rust blemish. Perhaps it was the cover I purchased for it after I bought that wasn't the best quality, it or maybe there is no cover that fully protects a bike outside, however I noticed a tiny bit of rust developing under the paint on my tank. Can anyone suggest a good, waterproof (or close to it) cover that served you well? Scanning the BMW parts website I see a cover on there for the K100s which I may consider but I'm curious if anyone else has a better suggestion, or has had better luck with another brand. At this point money is no object.

Any suggestions are appreciated,
Chris

This outdoor cover solution is only for 5-6 months of the year it's then winterized and sits in a covered garage.

Cheers and thanks!
Chris

A good cover should let the air flow through. Otherwise, it will trap the dampness and this is when problems occur.

G'day TSBT , when I was touring overseas for 7 months I used a very high quality cover but even with that I had problems with the paint on the edges of my fairing & mirror pods chaffing , in the end I had to tape all of the edges up to protect them , if money is no problem may I suggest a cover held off the bike with a frame , try to google "portable gazeebo" or "work tent" , you could even make a custom frame that is say 1.5m wide by 3m long & get a canvas cover fitted to it , closed on 3 sides and just big enough to back the bike into , or even a canvas shade sail ?

thoughts ?

Aw bv€€er Charlie 99 - I had one of those in my hand a couple of weeks ago but I didn't think it would fit over the LT screen. I'll get one next time round.

Thanks for all the great tips all. I've reached out to the Cycle Shelter people, says Out of Stock on the site. Great solution thanks Crazy Frog. I'm sure my neighbors will think I have an Alien ship parked out front, ha! In the meantime I put a broomstick on my seat, handle resting with padded plumbing foam on the end, rests nicely just above the instruments cluster. Fingers crossed, boys.

Royal Distributing has cycle shelters.
They have a store in Whitby where BMW is.

299.
Chris, I stopped by today to look at one.
Frame is good quality and the fabric appears to be ripstop nylon similar to a tent fly fabric.
Well vented.
Using my calibrated eyeball and big feet, it is about 9 feet long and closed it covered the scooter easily in the pic.
