Well, I've gone and stripped the splines on the k100 today. I've not had a chance to see the damage yet, so I guess there's a chance of it being the clutch plate side rather than the gearbox input shaft, but I'm not feeling lucky. So, anyone know the going rate for having a new input shafted fitted? I'm happy to strip the gearbox out and drop it off at a garage, but I don't think I have the skill/tools to replace the shaft myself.

Cheers

Matt

The clutch splines will strip long before the shaft so you may still be financial.
Pull the box out and have a look but dont be supprised if the shaft is a bit ordinary as dry splines will wear the shaft.
You may be lucky.

Hi Matt,

MotoBins send all their boxes to Steve Scriminger at SED in Sleaford. He is a top man for all BMW work and also prepares race bikes. www.scriminger.co.uk

I had my R1150RT input shaft fail (took out the clutch centre and input bearing at the same time). I removed the box and he did the rebuild. He normally carries the bearings and seals but I supplied the shaft. He is normally very busy, so you will need to call him to check on the latest prices and turn round time.
