Anyone have experience with the Spiegler conversion for the old K? Looks like a fairly reasonable way to go if your carriers are still in good shape...

Thanks,

Yep, that was my thinking as well Rene. Spiegler makes very good kit and that price is competitive when you look at all the options out there. I will keep you guys posted...

We had several of these done when I was at South Sound BMW in the bad old days. It is a tre cool way to upgrade the stock brakes, albeit, a spendy way. Our customers regaled us with tales of immense improvement, less squealing, less brake fade under hard stopping conditions, and the trick look too. Spiegler stuff rocks.

Thanks for the real world input mate! I'm going to have to do something as it looks like I've cooked the OEM setup. :-(

real conversion:

- R100R Brake cylinder (15mm)
- get 2 worn R100R discs and send the to Spiegler (for the same price)
- Get 2 4-V calipers

with these parts its plug and play

and you `ve got the best possible brakes from the BMW system in your ol´K
2 fingers brake - realy

It's even better braking with the 20mm K1100/R1100 master cylinder with the four piston Brembos. I've found the smaller diameter masters don't give a good feel at the lever. Of course, 292mm Suzuki brake discs (spaced correctly and OD cut for the job) work wonders too.
