Hi, Having just purchased a K100LT, I'm performing a driveshaft spline lube and oil changes etc. One thing I'm not sure about, is whether to lube the clutch splines. From what I've read, this seems to be quite a lengthy job. However, I've found that when starting off from a standstill, if you're not real careful when releasing the clutch, there is a click/clunk? from the transmission. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from but it sounds as though it's somewhere at the front of the swingarm, on the right side of the bike. I was wondering if this is normal for a K100. Generally, shifting gear is positive and the clutch feels fine. Will a clutch spline lube alleviate the noise?

As the you pinpoint it to the front of the swingarm... right hand...I would suspect the driveshaft universal joint.
But if it that worn, you also should feel some serious vibrations from same area.

You should be able to confirm what`s wrong, when you strip the bike for the spline lube...I`ll guess.

Thats my first thoughts as well.

Better do it now, at least you know then it's good for some time.

OK, Thanks for your replies. I have the driveshaft out and the splines and uv joint look OK. The only potential problem I can see is that when I disconnected the final drive from the driveshaft there was a small amount of oil in there. Having left the drive parked on the workbench all day, it looks like there is very slight weeping from the pinion(?) oil seal. This is turning into a bigger job than I thought! I've read on the forum that using synthetic oil can weep through seals - maybe the previous owner used synthetic. I think I'll change the oil to regular hypoid and see if it stops the weeping. If it does, I'll check out the procedure for lubing the clutch splines. Thanks for your help - John.

John, don't loose heart, these are fairly simple bikes to work on
