They make the job easier when you're alone in the garage. I don't 'need' them on my K100RS but use them on other bikes.

Some success? I have heard mixed reviews.

So BIG D, not what you thought they would be?

There is always some machine or vehicle that turns out to be a pig and in such situations the old slow method has been the saviour of the day I have various systems in my garage from expensive air operated systems to cheap one way valves I have used them all, depends on the machine but as a rule I reach for the one way valve and bottle first.

I only just finished bleeding the brakes on my K1100LT and the speed bleeders worked on the rear but were hpoeless on the front twin spots.
It has taken two days to do the front calipers and ABS and it is still not perfect.

Personally I have always preferred pressure bleeding on vehicles but that can be a problem when one cannot get the cap onto the reserve cylinder or if the cylinder is brittle as was discussed a few days ago.

I found that having put a good coat of thick silicone grease around the brake bleed valve to prevent air leaks looking like air coming out of the system, suction with a Mityvac on the bleed valve was excellent at getting all air out of the system.
Regards,
K-BIKE

After a recent refurb of my 84 RS rear brake master cylinder and caliper i could not get it to start taking fluid from the resovoir. A friend of mine offered to run back home and get his speed bleed kit but we tried something else first.

I managed to pour some fluid into the caliper in the reverse manner to which it should have come out from, effectively sucking it in the wrong way. after a good few pumps like this it started to draw from the resovoir and then bled the ol fashioned way - up / down / close / open.
pedal is firm and stayed so - so far.

Ian

I have used speed bleeders on several cars that i have owned and found that they work well most of the time. On my personal car a 71 Cutlass convertible they worked on the front discs but not on the rear disc conversion. I had to bleed the rears the old fashioned way , pump and hold, open the bleeder, close bleeder, release and pump again (with my wife helping).

Recently flushed my front and rear fluids, using a sucking machine. Rode about 200Km, brakes felt great. Yesterday a big pool of brake fluid appeared on the garage floor, from the rear master cylinder. Coincidence? Murphies Law?
