Good morning people. New to this forum but not Beemers. Been on Boxer's since 1981.
Just returned from a trip down to Florida to pick up 2 K100RT's. One has 900 miles and body damage and the other has 80k miles on it. Same owner. Bikes have been sitting for 10 plus years.

Anyway, I get the fuel pump noise, on the 80K bike. I have pressure on the rail, but no squirt. Fuel injection relay energizes when starter button is pushed. The motor cranks over and has spark. No volts at fuel injector connector.
Is the "fuel injection control unit" part of the CPU under the tool storage? That connector has been checked, all fuses are good, with output verified on either side of the fuse.

I've been told that " key on" should energize the pump. True, or false? Mine "does not"

Also, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the BMW optional radio application?

Haynes, or Clymer, which is better?

When i figure out how to send pics, I'll post a photo of the trunk/bags on this bike. Never seen one like it before.

Thanks gang, I'll be back.

Hi Robert I can probably shed light on a few things but there are others more experienced who can probably solve your problem. Firstly there is an excellent colour wiring diagram in the downloads section which is a great start. The fuel pump may be energised with key on but does not start to pump until the starter switch is depressed and will stop shortly after if the bike does not start. You are correct in that the fuel injection unit is under the tool storage and the plug can cause major problems if it is not seated correctly. It should "click" into place and if you can pull the plug off without depressing the small spring loaded latch visible through the hole in the tool tray then it is not properly connected. I found the easiest way was to slide the fuel injection unit slightly out, by taking out the little black plug under the rh side cover, and then connect the main plug and it becomes much clearer in how it is supposed to connect. Can't tell you which manual is better as I only have the Haynes but I have also used Clymer in the past and I tend to think they are both quite good.

Phil

Thanks Phil for the detail on the connector. It's not a very positive connection so I'll check what you spoke of. I can follow the schematic fine. Does your Haynes manual provide good detail on the fuel injection system or just gloss over and tell you to contact the dealer?

Anyone have the Beemer radio schematic?

Robert the Haynes manual is quite comprehensive in its description of the fuel injection system and is also available as a pdf in the download section.

Regards,

Phil
