Hi, all.

Discovered a fuel leak right after starting out yesterday. I only noticed it when I put the bike on the side stand for a moment--engine running. Fuel seemed to run down from atop the block under the airbox. It was a nice puddle that hit the ground...so I shut it down ASAP.

I chose not to restart and replicate the problem today, but rather go in and look for evidence.

I've got the airbox off, hoses seem original to the bike. Can't tell without pressurizing the lines where the issue could be. Clamps are original BMW style on the FPR, so probably original installation.

I'm going to replace the larger hoses from the fuel rail and to the tank, but should I test or replace the FPR? Do they go bad? What about the smaller hose inside the spring that goes to the block...should I replace that as well?

Any insight or help is greatly appreciated.

Bob

What bike? Putting the year and type (K75, K100, K1100) in your signature would be a great help to all of us when trying to answer a question. I know your avatar looks like a K75 but that could be out of date.

Fuel pressure regulators CAN go bad but they have a pretty low failure rate so if the bike runs OK I would not bother replacing it.

Dai: 4 valve Ks don't have a FPR vacuum line so the bike is a K75 or K100.

Vacuum hose: Take it out of the "spring" to see if it's dried and/or cracked. You can replace it with generic vacuum line. I have.
