1 Weak fuel pump pressure/volume Mon Feb 28, 2011 3:19 pm

The fuel pump on my K100RT was seized when I got it. Using the download information I disassembled the pump and found several rusted parts. I sanded out the rust and reassembled. It spins over fine and will push some fuel, but I can easily block the flow from the fuel line with my finger. To me there is not nearly enough pressure being generated by the pump. The engine will cough or spit, but won't start, indicating weak fuel delivery. I put in the pump from my RS and the bike flashed up fine. So where did I go wrong? I'm wondering if sanding those 5 pins inside the mechanical portion of the pump has modified the clearances to the point of compromising pressure. Or did I reassemble something backwards???? Your thoughts?
Does someone in Canada or USA have a pump that is electrically ruined and would send it to me? Then I could swap out your good mechanical components into mine.
