Hey all I couldn’t find a very fitting place to put this on the forum, but when i put throttle on it doesn’t snap back when i let it go, i have to close it back myself (and it’s not the grips i pulled the grip back and it was still staying open), any tips on what i should do? i ordered a new throttle housing and cable but i’m not sure if it’ll work or if there’s an easier fix? thanks!

So's we all know what K bike - presumably - you are having the trouble with, please state it each time, or easier, go to the Signature part of your Profile, and list it. Year & specific model is good.

What exactly do you mean by "put throttle on"? As in, when you turn it to actually rev the engine, or when you're attempting to install the twist grip assembly?

Is this a new issue, that's just arisen?

You need to be sure the throttle assembly isn't binding on the end of the handlebar or the 'bar end weight. This is often due to the switch assembly being tightened too far in from the end of the 'bar, or when heated grips are turned on for cold weather riding, when things, even rubber, can expand a bit.

Otherwise, check the cable end down at the throttle bodies. Is it coming to rest against the stop when the throttle is closed? Is the cable routed correctly? Is the bike a cafe racer or custom with other than stock components?

That's a bit of clarity, then, and my questions remain.

Along with the checks TWB has suggested is this, compliments of Forum member duck. Caked up grease will slow the works.

take it apart and clean it inc the cable , they are not the most straight forwards with the bevel gear twist grip but they will work when in good order and routed correctly

Does it have a threaded throttle lock on the underside of the switch gear?  Should have a screwdriver slot in the head and an external spring.  Classic signs of one of those wound in.

If so, then just wind it out.

had an issue with the throttle getting stuck when twisted, opened it up and saw the grease was black i wiped it all out and sprayed some pb blaster to break up some rust, just wondering what kind of grease i should add in, and if there’s a specific way to put it in?

Time for a through clean. Some of us only use spray grease rather than packing it full of grease. Gives a nice light throttle response Very Happy Very Happy

Make sure the end of the grip is not dragging on the handlebar because the throttle assembly and switches are pushed too far inward on the bar.  You should also make sure the inboard end of the grip isn't rubbing on the throttle housing as well.

Last, your bike might have a throttle lock screw on the bottom of the throttle housing.  This is a knurled nob that presses on the throttle adding enough drag to prevent it from closing when you let go.

I use spray on white lithium grease on the gears. And on the cables it's safe to use a PTFE lubricant like Tri Flo .
Regards Martin.
